Day 1: Rishikesh → Chopta
Distance: 205 km | Drive Time: 8–9 Hours | Altitude: 2,680 m Your journey begins early in the morning from Rishikesh as you drive through the beautiful Garhwal Himalayas. En route, witness the sacred confluences at Devprayag and Rudraprayag, and enjoy scenic views of the Alaknanda River. Pass through Srinagar and Ukhimath before reaching Chopta, popularly known as the "Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand." Day 2
Day 2: Chopta → Tungnath → Chandrashila → Chopta
Trek Distance: 8–10 km | Duration: 6–7 Hours | Maximum Altitude: 4,000 m After an early breakfast, begin your trek from Chopta on a well-paved stone trail surrounded by dense forests of oak, deodar, and rhododendron. After a gradual climb, reach Tungnath Temple (3,680 m), the highest Shiva temple in the world and one of the sacred Panch Kedar shrines. Spend some time exploring the temple and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. Continue the trek to Chandrashila Summit (4,000 m), where you'll be rewarded with spectacular 360-degree views of Himalayan peaks, including Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedarnath, and Neelkanth. March – June (Spring & Summer)
Pleasant weather with clear skies and comfortable daytime temperatures. The trails are mostly dry and surrounded by fresh greenery and blooming flowers. Ideal for trekking and first-time trekkers.
September – November (Autumn)
One of the best seasons for trekking, with clear mountain views, pleasant temperatures and dry trails. The weather remains stable and the Himalayan scenery is at its best.
July – August (Monsoon)
Rainfall can make the trails slippery and increase the chances of landslides. Trekking is possible only with proper preparation, but this season is generally less recommended.
December – February (Winter)
Cold weather with chances of snowfall at higher altitudes. Snow-covered trails create beautiful winter scenery, but proper warm clothing and winter trekking gear are essential.

What to be able to do before you join, and how to get there.
Recommended Fitness Level
This trek requires a moderate level of fitness. You should be comfortable walking for 5–7 hours a day on uneven and uphill terrain. Previous trekking experience is helpful but not mandatory.
Walking & Running Preparation
Start preparing at least 3–4 weeks before the trek. Aim for 30–45 minutes of brisk walking, jogging or stair climbing 4–5 days a week. Gradually increase your walking distance and stamina.
Strength & Endurance
Include squats, lunges, step-ups, calf raises and core exercises in your routine. Focus on building leg strength and endurance to handle long uphill and downhill sections comfortably.
Acclimatisation
Take enough rest during the trek and maintain a comfortable pace. Stay hydrated and allow your body time to adjust to higher altitudes. Avoid rushing, especially on steep sections.
