The Madmaheshwar Trek is a peaceful Himalayan journey that takes you through traditional Garhwali villages, dense forests, waterfalls, and scenic meadows to the ancient Madmaheshwar Temple. From the temple and nearby Budha Madmaheshwar, trekkers enjoy spectacular views of Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, Neelkanth, and Mandani peaks. Ideal for pilgrims and nature lovers, this trek is one of the most beautiful spiritual treks in Uttarakhand.
Day 1 — Day 1: Rishikesh → Ransi
Distance: ~210 km Drive Time: 8–10 hrs Altitude: 1,980 m Start early from Rishikesh and drive via Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Ukhimath – Ransi. Enjoy scenic river valleys and mountain views throughout the journey. Reach Ransi by evening, check into a guesthouse, and relax. Meals: Dinner Stay: Guesthouse in Ransi
Day 2 — Day 2: Ransi → Gaundhar → Bantoli → Madmaheshwar

The trail descends to Gaundhar village and then gradually climbs through forests, streams, and meadows via Bantoli. Reach Madmaheshwar Temple by evening and enjoy the serene Himalayan surroundings. Day 3 — Day 3: Madmaheshwar → Budha Madmaheshwar → Ransi
Trek Distance: 18–20 km Trek Time: 8–9 hrs Wake up early for a short hike to Budha Madmaheshwar, famous for its sunrise view over the Chaukhamba massif. Return to the temple, have breakfast, and descend back to Ransi through the same trail. Meals: Breakfast & Dinner Stay: Guesthouse in Ransi
Day 4 — Day 4: Ransi → Rishikesh
Distance: ~210 km Drive Time: 8–10 hrs After breakfast, drive back to Rishikesh via Ukhimath and Rudraprayag. Reach by evening with beautiful memories of the Madmaheshwar trek. Meals: Breakfast

Food & Hydration
May – June (Summer)
Pleasant weather and comfortable trekking conditions make this a good time to visit Madmaheshwar. The trails are generally clear, with beautiful green landscapes and clear mountain views.
September – November (Autumn)
One of the best seasons for the trek. The weather is cool and mostly clear, with excellent Himalayan views and dry trail conditions. Ideal for comfortable trekking and photography.
July – August (Monsoon)
The region receives heavy rainfall during monsoon. Trails can become slippery and muddy, with possible landslides and difficult road conditions. This period is generally less recommended for trekking.
Recommended Fitness Level
Madmaheshwar is a moderate-to-difficult trek with long uphill and downhill sections. Trekkers should be comfortable walking for around 5–7 hours a day on uneven mountain terrain. Prior trekking experience is helpful but not compulsory.
Walking & Running Preparation
Start preparing 3–4 weeks before the trek. Walk or jog for 30–45 minutes, 4–5 days a week. Gradually increase your distance and include stair climbing to improve stamina for uphill sections.
Strength & Endurance
Focus on squats, lunges, step-ups, calf raises and core exercises. Strong legs and good endurance will help you manage continuous climbs and descents more comfortably.
Acclimatisation & Pace
Maintain a slow and steady pace, especially on uphill sections. Take regular breaks, stay hydrated and allow your body to adjust to altitude. Avoid rushing and always follow the trek leader's instructions.

Trek Leader & First Aid
The trek group will be guided by a trek leader. A basic first-aid kit should be available with the trek team for common trekking injuries and minor emergencies.
Emergency Procedure
In case of an emergency, immediately inform the trek leader and follow the team's instructions. Depending on the situation and trail conditions, the group may return to the nearest safe location or seek local emergency assistance.
Trail & Weather Safety
Mountain weather can change quickly. Follow the trek leader's instructions during rain, snowfall, strong winds or poor visibility. Do not leave the marked trail or walk alone in remote sections.
Personal Safety
Carry your personal medicines, valid ID and essential emergency contacts. Stay with the group throughout the trek and avoid trekking after dark unless instructed by the trek team.
