Fitness & preparation

1. Recommended Fitness Level

Moderate fitness is recommended for this trek. You should be comfortable walking for 4–6 hours on uneven and uphill terrain. Regular walking, light jogging and basic strength exercises before the trek will help you prepare.

2. Walking & Running Target

Try to build up to 4–5 km of comfortable walking or jogging, and gradually increase your walking duration. Practice uphill and downhill walking whenever possible.

3. Strength & Endurance

Focus on squats, lunges, step-ups, calf raises and core exercises 3–4 times a week. This will help improve leg strength, balance and endurance for trekking.

4. Preparation Before the Trek

Start preparing 3–4 weeks before departure. Increase your walking distance gradually, stay well hydrated, eat a balanced diet and get adequate sleep. Avoid starting intense workouts suddenly just before the trek.

5. Prior Trekking Experience

Previous trekking experience is not mandatory for beginner/moderate-level treks. However, participants should be comfortable walking for several hours and following the trek leader's instructions.

6. Altitude Preparation

For high-altitude treks, proper acclimatisation is important. Maintain a comfortable pace, stay hydrated and inform the trek leader immediately if you feel unwell at altitude.

Safety & emergencies

1. Trek Leader & Guidance

A trained trek leader will accompany the group throughout the trek and guide participants on the trail, pace and basic safety procedures.

2. First Aid

A basic first-aid kit will be available with the trek team for minor injuries and common trekking-related issues. Participants should inform the trek leader about any discomfort or injury immediately.

3. Trail Safety

Stay with the group and follow the marked trail and trek leader's instructions. Avoid walking alone, especially during descents or in low-visibility conditions.

4. Weather & Visibility

Mountain weather can change quickly. The trek may be adjusted or delayed if weather or trail conditions become unsafe. Carry suitable warm and rain protection.

5. Emergency Support

In case of an emergency, the trek leader will coordinate the required assistance and evacuation procedure based on the situation and available local support.

6. Participant Responsibility

Participants should disclose relevant medical conditions, allergies or medications to the trek team before the trek and carry any personal medicines they require.
